Bolder Corals on Rod

he second installation method consisted of mounting the corals on a rod and suspending them on a coral tree in the nursery. These Knobby Brain Coral (Pseudodiploria clivosa) fragments are suspended on a coral tree at our nursery.

Staghorn spawn

Released gametes float up in the water column. The gamete bundles of staghorn coral contain both eggs and sperm that break open to allow gametes from different parent colonies to mix and fertilize. Newly formed planktonic larvae will remain in the water column for several days or more and then settle on bare substrate and grow into new corals.
