Data is presented on 12 hurricanes that impacted northwest Florida between 1972 and 2005. Hurricane Dennis was compared with other hurricanes and differences provided in storm strength, track, location of landfall, nature and design adequacy of construction, existence of a beach restoration project, proximity of structures to the beach, and geomorphological features.
