General Services

The Bureau of General Services (BGS) is a value-driven bureau that applies the department’s mission to the provision of effective agency operations. BGS staff provide professional services to DEP in the following business areas:

• Procurement – Develops, reviews and approves agency purchases of goods and services in support of agency needs by ensuring that the purchasing transactions are made based on both quality and cost effectiveness, and that the transactions are made in a fair, open and competitive manner.
• Monitoring and Compliance – Provides training and assessment in support of agency agreements; conducts audit preparedness activities; and designs and develops curricula and tools to improve efficiency and support program area compliance efforts.
• Operational Support – Maintains agency statewide property and content insurance; fleet, motor pool and fuel card services; records management; property inventory and surplus; mail services; and facility and grounds management.
