Staff in DEP's Office of Legislative Affairs coordinate legislative agendas and assist in developing legislative policy on behalf of the department. Legislative Affairs serves as the point of contact for legislators and their staff for information about DEP programs.
The Office of Legislative Affairs prepares bill analyses, proposals and recommendations to inform the members of Florida House of Representatives, Florida Senate, Governor's Office and others about the department's position on legislative issues. The proposals and analyses help policymakers and the public understand the legislation and its effects.
DEP maintains an interest in a wide range of issues as changes in law may affect DEP’s programs and procedures. Staff track legislation related to the environment, legal procedure, information systems, administrative functions, human resources and the budget.
