The Watershed Information Network (WIN) is a centralized environmental data management system to store and manage non-regulatory discrete water quality data. WIN modernized and replaced Florida STORET (STOrage and RETrieval) in 2017. Florida STORET remains but is a legacy systemThrough both WIN and Florida STORET, the WIN Section of the DEP Division of Environmental Assessment and Restoration (DEAR) Watershed Services Program (WSP) fulfills Florida statutory requirements, DEP rule requirements, and U.S. EPA funding and reporting requirements for these data.

Data Submission

Since May 2017, WIN has provided an interactive platform that enables data providers to submit and validate data prior to publication. Allowable data types include surface water, groundwater, soil, sediment, and fish tissue data. WIN standards, FAQs, example data templates, and other resources are available at WIN Information . Your data contributions are essential to helping DEP assess and protect Florida’s water resources statewide. WIN Coordinators are available to assist with organization registration, data formatting transition, and application training.

Data Access

Data in WIN and Florida STORET are available for browsing and download through WIN Reports and STORET Public Access (SPA), respectively. Data are also reported to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Water Quality Exchange (WQX) and may be accessed there.

Data Management & Support

The WIN section works with internal and external data providers to implement WIN through data quality standards and rules, training, database maintenance and enhancements, and documentation maintenance. WIN Coordinators assist data providers with loading their data to WIN, and assist them with data quality assurance, integrity, and data maintenance. Each WIN Coordinator works with data providers in assigned areas aligned by DEP Regulatory Districts. A list of WIN Coordinators, their assigned districts, and contact information are provided here. Additionally, WIN Coordinators assist data users with database-related inquiries, including data extractions from STORET Public Access (SPA) or WIN Reports (WIN).
