Training Descriptions:
10:00 a.m. Trainings:
Oculus – Introduction & Next Level: Oculus is where DEP houses documents (permits, inspections, monitoring reports and the like). This presentation will cover different ways to search in Oculus, from the basic broad search (with how to enter Facility-Site ID's), to more nuanced searching methods. We will also go over the DEP Information Portal which is an interface that links the documents in Oculus with our MapDirect GIS site.
DEP 101: The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is the State's lead agency for environmental management and stewardship, protecting our air, water, and land. Please join us for an overview of DEP's history, mission, values, and more.
GIS – Shape File requirements for ERP & Waste Cleanup: This training will go through the FDEP shapefile requirements. A demonstration will be provided on how to create a shapefile, and ensure that the shapefile is compatible with MapDirect.
EzDMR – Electronic Submission Discharge Monitoring Reports: This training will cover the Electronic Discharge Monitoring Report System (EzDMR) [NPDES facilities are required to submit via EzDMR]. By utilizing this secure web-enabled system, the facility will save on postage, paper, and time.
10:45 a.m. Trainings:
SWPPP and CGP training: Developing an effective Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) is an important requirement for the NPDES Stormwater permits like, Construction Generic Permits (CGPs), Multi Sector Generic Permits (MSGPs) and Industrial Wastewater (IW) permits. In this presentation, you will learn about the important components that help develop a SWPPP that meets the permit requirements. This training will also cover the requirements of the NPDES Stormwater Construction Generic Permit (CGP). Detailed information will be provided on SWPPP, dewatering and inspections along with Best Management Practices (BMP) examples.
Map Direct: This presentation will provide an overview on how to use Map Direct GIS software navigation and implementation, with a variety of applications that are beneficial in various ways for any type of user within the environment. Some uses include Air facilities, Solid Waste facilities, Wetlands and Surface Waters (SLERP), etc. We will also provide some tips and tricks which detail the best uses of the MapDirect software.
Waste Cleanup: A summary of 62-780 F.A.C. assessment, remediation and closures. The discussion will also include Brownfields and Waste Cleanup success stories.
Florida’s Waters: Monitoring, Challenges, and Restoration in Southwest Florida: This training will provide an accessible overview of how DEP’s monitoring work fits into Statewide water quality assessment and restoration efforts. The topics will include:
