Submerged Lands & Environmental Resource Program

The Environmental Resource Permitting/Submerged Lands section conducts environmental resource permitting. It is also charged with compliance and enforcement for dredge and fill projects as well as mangrove trimming within wetlands and surface waters. This section also processes applications for authorization to use state-owned lands, and provides compliance and enforcement of facilities on state-owned submerged land.



Water Facilities

The Water Facilities Division provides monitoring as well as compliance & enforcement for both domestic wastewater and industrial wastewater facilities. In addition, this division conducts water quality monitoring and analysis for the Florida Keys.


Waste & Air Resources

This section carries out compliance & enforcement for solid waste (landfills), hazardous waste, and petroleum storage facilities (fuel storage tanks.) It also regulates air compliance assurance, including power plant and incinerator emissions as well as asbestos abatement. The environmental specialists also act as response assistants for the Office of Emergency response.



Office of Emergency Response

The Office of Emergency Response provides response to incidents ranging from petroleum spills to chemical plant explosions to the recovery of abandoned containers of hazardous materials. Provides technical and on-site assistance in coordination with local public safety officials and emergency response contractors to ensure threats are quickly and effectively addressed. It also provides support for oil spill prevention and response.
