The HR staff is comprised of four teams that provide support and guidance in all areas of Human Resource Management for the Department of Environmental Protection.

The Employee Relations team handles areas that affect the employment relationship. Through consultation and resource development, we assist individuals and managers with fostering positive working relationships through effective communication, conflict resolution and managing expectations.

The Payroll, Benefits, Attendance & Leave, and Organizational Management team handles all payroll processing actions including PAR approvals, employee onboarding, separations, attendance and leave, and benefits (insurance, retirement, DROP). PBAL personnel also coordinate the proper handling of all workers compensation claims and employee return to work statuses. The Organizational Management team handles all classification and organizational management. This includes all FTE position classification actions, e.g., position description updates, FTE reclassification requests, reorganizations, role code and supervisory changes, funding changes, questions regarding foreign national employment, financial disclosure, telework, 411 updates, OPS position changes, pre and post-job offer processes, and I-9 and E-Verify processing. They also handle OPS position actions and the DEP pre-employment process.

The Recruitment and Selection team handles our talent management selection, EEO/Affirmative Action Plan, Veterans’ Preference, DEP Internship Program, as well as special projects.

The Human Resource Development (Training) team coordinates a department–wide training program focused on leadership skills development, professional skills enhancement, compliance training and personal enrichment courses presented in classroom and online formats. The HRD team is also responsible for state award programs, tuition waiver processes and the management of HR webpage content, HR forms and directives.
