First Day Bikes

Celebrate the start of Florida Greenways and Trails Month!

The Office of Greenways and Trails is partnering with the Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail on First Day Bikes, a cycling-focused event in Tallahassee on Sunday, October 1st, 2023. Join us at the Capital Circle Trailhead of the Tallahassee-St. Marks Trail from 9:00am to 12:00pm for an outdoor expo featuring educational booths, local food trucks, and free bike helmets! Throughout the morning there will also be three scheduled group bike rides (scroll down for more information) to enjoy alongside the expo.

First Day Bikes Scheduled Group Rides

All three rides are free, open to the public, and scheduled for October 1st, 2023 in Tallahassee. Meet other cyclists and get to know two of Tallahassee's biking clubs who host regular rides throughout the year. Please bring your own bike, helmet, and drinking water.

8:30am: Long Distance Ride with Capital City Cyclists

• Long distance ride for experienced cyclists.

• Ride starts at the Capital Circle Trailhead of the Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail (4778 Woodville Highway, Tallahassee, FL 32305). 

• 20 mile (total) ride on paved trail from the Capital Circle Trailhead to the Wakulla Station Trailhead and back.
• Registration is required- sign up on the Capital City Cyclists webpage.

9:00am: Ride with a Ranger

• Slow, casual ride for all experience levels and ages- bring the whole family!

• Meet at the Capital Circle Trailhead of the Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail (4778 Woodville Highway, Tallahassee, FL 32305).

• 3 mile ride on paved trail (1.5 miles down and back to trailhead).

9:30am: Mountain Bike Ride with the Tallahassee Mountain Bike Association

• Meet at the Munson Hills Trailhead (5140 Woodville Highway, Tallahassee, FL 32305).
• 8 mile ride on single track mountain bike trails.
• Be sure to bring a bike that is suitable for mountain bike trails. Click here for information about the Munson Hills trail system.
