DEP's Deepwater Horizon Program Helps Fund Parker City Pier

Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Parker City Pier:

As part of the Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) early restoration program, the city of Parker submitted for and was selected to receive funding to construct a fishing pier for the public. This project was managed by DEP's Deepwater Horizon Program for design, permitting and construction of the pier. Construction of the pier began in March 2022 and was completed in January 2024.

DEP Helps Fund the Palm Bay Turkey Creek Water Quality Baffle Box Project

Groundbreaking for City of Palm Bay Turkey Creek Baffle Box Project:

DEP's Division of Water Restoration Assistance is providing $1.2 million in a legislative appropriation grant for the project to expand Palm Bay's restoration efforts of Turkey Creek, a tributary of the Indian River Lagoon. An ongoing feasibility study recommended construction of baffle boxes at five locations in the Turkey Creek Basin to reduce nitrogen and phosphorous outputs. 


 

DEP Helps Fund Project to Protect and Recharge Wakulla County’s Aquifer

Groundbreaking Ceremony for Wakulla County Golf Course Project:

DEP recently awarded Wakulla County over $4.9 million to replace the irrigation system and install rapid infiltration basins (RIBS) for effluent disposal at the Wakulla County Golf Course. The funding was awarded through DEP's Alternative Water Supply Program and came from State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds and Springs Funds. Projects funded through this program prioritize regional projects in the areas of greatest need and projects that provide the most significant benefit to the environment.
