DEP Announces Public Meeting for Proposed Bellmar Development’s State 404 Program Permit Application

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will hold a public meeting on Dec. 7, 2023, to allow an opportunity for the public to provide input, ask questions and obtain information about the State 404 permit application for the proposed Bellmar development in Collier County.

On Aug. 16, 2022, and Nov. 6, 2023, DEP issued a State 404 Public Notice to the applicant, Collier Enterprises Management Inc., to discharge dredge or fill material into “waters of the United States” (WOTUS). The proposed discharges would impact approximately 144 acres of wetlands deemed WOTUS. To offset wetland impacts, the applicant will place approximately 2,570 acres into conservation as well as perform wetland preservation and enhancement, including exotic vegetation removal and supplemental planting.

DEP is committed to protecting Floridians and our state’s natural resources and ensuring the state’s environmental laws are followed. DEP will only issue permits that are protective of Florida’s environment and meet all requirements of state law.

The permit application and related application information (DEP File No. 396364) are available online.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. Persons who require special accommodations under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) or persons who require translation services (free of charge) are asked to contact Stacie Taylor at 850-245-2118 or LEP@FloridaDEP.gov at least ten (10) days before the meeting. If you have a hearing or speech impairment, please contact the agency using the Florida Relay Service, 800-955-8771 (TDD) or 800-955-8770 (voice). "
