The Fernandina Beach Historic District showcases well-preserved 19th-century architecture, including colorful Victorian homes, charming storefronts and historic landmarks. The county celebrates the island’s maritime heritage and the bounty of the sea at the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival. This festival offers a vibrant atmosphere filled with live music, arts and crafts vendors and of course mouthwatering shrimp dishes prepared in various delectable ways. Visitors can enjoy a festival parade, a classic car show and the charming streets of Fernandina’s historic district while indulging in shrimp delights. Visitors can also take part in the Right Whale Festival, which celebrates the annual return of endangered north Atlantic right whales to the warm coastal waters off northeast Florida and Georgia. The festival is fun for all ages, where visitors can enjoy interactive displays, athletic events and food trucks. So, take some time out to visit the festival and learn about the ongoing efforts to protect right whales from extinction.

Fort Clinch Aquatic Preserve  located in Nassau County is a captivating tourist destination. This pristine preserve protects a diverse and vital marine ecosystem, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can explore its waters through activities like kayaking and paddleboarding. Also, take some time out to observe marine life such as manatees, dolphins and various species of fish.
