Central District Permitting and Waste Cleanup

Apply for a PermitEnvironmental permits help minimize potential environmental disruption as a result of common human activities. DEP's Central District works proactively with stakeholders to consistently draft high-quality permits in the shortest time possible. In a normal year, the Central District will handle over 2,000 permits, clearances and other authorizations.

The goal of Central District's Waste Cleanup section is to oversee cleanup of contaminated sites in order to protect public health and the environment. Brownfields are a tool used by DEP to hasten the cleanup of real property that may have otherwise been complicated by actual or perceived environmental contamination.
