Every Stamp is a Story

A Florida State Parks public outreach initiative to increase awareness of the diverse experiences available at Florida’s 175 state parks, trails and historic sites through a special edition Florida State Parks Passport. The public is encouraged to participate by visiting a state park, obtaining a passport and sharing their parks story. Visit Every Stamp is a Story for details.

Skip the Straw

To preserve natural resources and keep Florida’s environment free of pollutants, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection encourages Florida residents and visitors to reduce their plastic use and “Skip the Straw.” Residents, schools and businesses can pledge to Skip the Straw for one week. If every person in Florida took this pledge, we could together reduce pollution from plastic straws by approximately 2.35 million.

Our Lands. Our Legacy.

Cultures evolve based on the resources available on the lands people call home. In Florida, we can experience pristine beaches, freshwater springs, forested uplands and marshy flatwoods, all within a single day. These resources are the foundation of our way of life, providing materials for shelter, habitat for plants and animals, protection from wind, rain and erosion, and inspiration for all manner of human creativity. Additionally, Florida’s unique and breathtaking natural areas provide support for the state’s economy.

In partnership with other agencies and organizations, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of State Lands works to acquire and conserve these precious natural and cultural resources through the Florida Forever Program. These lands are the legacy we inherited and the legacy we will pass along to future Floridians. Visit Our Lands. Our Legacy for details.
