4th Saturday Paddle with the Apalachicola Riverkeeper on an Apalachicola River tributary or the river itself. Kayaks available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations, call 850-653-8936 or contact by email. Free to members; $30 for nonmembers (which entitles one to a one-year membership).
Guided Nature Tours, Nov. to April 27, 2018, 9:30-11:30 a.m., Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center, Naples, FL. Experienced guides and naturalists provide boat and kayak tours to explore bays and mangrove tunnels.
9-11:Birds of a Feather Fest, Palm Coast FL. A weekend devoted to learning about birds, with workshops, presentations and nature walks designed for adults and youths, both amateur and professional. Feb. 10, 2018, is Everglades Day.
10:Everglades Day Festival at Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, Boynton Beach, FL. This free event will answer questions and possibly entice you to ask more about the “Glades” creatures, archaeology and history.
10:Palm Beach Paddlefest at Harborside Place in Jupiter, 9-3. Exhibitors, races/relays, and water-based demos.
3: Water Tribe's Ultimate Florida 2018. This is a kayak/small sailboat race around the entire state, including a 40-mile portage, beginning and ending at Tampa Bay. The Everglades Challenge (Tampa Bay to Key Largo) and the Ultra Marathon (Tampa Bay to Stump Pass) begins on the same day.
24:Roll & Stroll Sarasota, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Besides participating in guided or self-directed walking and bicycling tours in the Sarasota area, participants can provide input on the future of the Gulf Coast Trail that will connect the Legacy Trail to the barrier islands.
OCTOBER 2018 - FLORIDA GREENWAYS AND TRAILS MONTH!
25-28:16th Annual Florida Paddlers' Rendezvous in the Blackwater River State Forest. Several paddling trips in the region with a limit of 25 paddlers per trip. Paddling clubs and individuals from around the state and beyond will be participating.
