The program components of the 75% recycling goal are delineated in Section 403.7032, Florida Statutes, which was created by the 2008 Legislative Session. Following is that entire Section.
In 2008, the Florida Legislature enacted House Bill 7135 which created Section 403.7032, Florida Statutes. This established a new statewide recycling goal of 75% to be achieved by the year 2020. Also, the statute directed DEP to develop a program designed to achieve this goal and submit it to the Legislature for approval. DEP submitted its 75% Recycling Goal Report in January 2010.
Businesses have saved over $42.7 million in sales tax on resource recovery equipment in Florida.
Florida provides a sales tax exemption on the purchase of resource recovery equipment that is owned or operated on behalf of a local government.
