The information was voluntarily supplied by the services providers and is not necessarily a complete list of available services, and a company's absence from the list does not imply prejudice or impropriety. DEP does not endorse specific equipment or companies. DEP, by providing this list, does not imply that the companies are in compliance with applicable laws.
America Recycles Day is annually held on November 15. It is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Communities across Florida have participated in America Recycles Day to promote environmental citizenship and pledge to be better environmental stewards.
Energy management is an important aspect of environmental management which will show healthy dividends for the state. Improving energy efficiency saves money and helps protect the environment without sacrificing comfort.
Florida Statute 403.7065 relates to green procurement. This statute still refers to Florida Statute 287.045 which was repealed in 2010. By statute, state agencies have an obligation to purchase products made with recycled content.
Florida Recycling Loan Program: Loans to small businesses in the recycling industry.
Florida Statute 403.714 (Duties of State Agencies) reads that each state agency, the judicial branch of state government and the state university shall: (a) establish a program in cooperation with the Department of Management Services for the collection of all recyclable materials generated in state offices and institutions throughout the state, including, at a minimum, aluminum, high-grade office paper, and corrugated cardboard.
The Florida Legislature through the Energy, Climate Change and Economic Security Act of 2008 established a statewide weight-based recycling goal of 75% by 2020.
The act directed the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to establish a reporting protocol and directed counties to report annually. The Legislature also established interim recycling goals: 40% by 2012; 50% by 2014; 60% by 2016; and 70% by 2018.
