We assist in the development of markets for recyclable materials with the mission to achieve a 75 percent recycling rate by 2020. We can provide assistance to recycling businesses at all levels of the supply chain, as well as potential partners, the Legislature and the public.
Florida has a goal to reach a 75 percent recycling rate in just a few short years by 2020. Your business, institution or organization can be part of that race to 75 percent by making recycling "business as usual." Here are some resources to help you and ways you can be recognized for your success. The Recycling Recognition program is for any business, institution or organization. There are also additional recognition programs for certain kinds of businesses such as hotels, marinas and hospitals.
The annual Solid Waste Management Report is based on information provided by the 67 counties in Florida. The department uses the information to prepare a report on the status of the State’s solid waste management efforts.

The program consists of the Small County Consolidated Waste Grant which is issued annually.
Once the grants are executed, all reimbursement requests for the counties' various grants are reviewed and processed. The requests are examined to ensure that money is being spent in accordance with grant rules and conditions before they are sent to the Comptroller for payment.
The Recycling Recognition Program was developed to encourage private businesses, institutions, schools, public organizations and citizens to increase recycling in order to reach Florida’s recycling goal of 75% by 2020.
The Florida DEP Business Recycling Tracking Tool (Re-TRAC) is an easy-to-use tool for organizations to track, compare and report their recycling efforts. This website includes free registration, so organizations can track different types of recycling efforts and produce reports.
Requirements
Florida has a MSW (municipal solid waste) recycling goal that includes C&D (construction and demolition) debris. Construction and Demolition Debris (link to 62-701.200(24) accounts for almost 25 percent of Florida's total MSW stream. A wide range of these materials can be recovered and reused or recycled into new products.
