Orange County Public Schools Education Complex Fire Training Facility

The Orange County Public Schools Education Complex Fire Training Facility is located at:

2900 West Oak Ridge Road
Orlando, Florida

The site is a 63.53-acre parcel located at 2900 West Oak Ridge Road, Orlando, Orange County, Florida. It was originally reported that firefighting aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) was not utilized at the facility. A 2020 Phase I Environmental Site Assessment completed by a private environmental consultant, however, identified the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) which are associated with AFFF. Results indicated perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in soil at concentrations above leachability-based provisional cleanup target levels.

PFOS, PFOA and the sum of PFOS and PFOA were reported at levels above provisional groundwater cleanup target levels in four monitoring wells installed at the fire training facility. DEP's Central District Office is working closely with the facility to determine future efforts.
