State Funded Cleanup

State Funded Cleanup is designed to address sites

• Where there are no viable responsible parties
• The site poses an imminent hazard
• The site does not qualify for Superfund or is a low priority for the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Site rehabilitation activities are triggered when a Florida Department of Environmental Protection district office requests adoption of a site for state-funded cleanup.

Funding for the site rehabilitation activities comes from the Water Quality Assurance Trust Fund. Rehabilitation activities may include but is not limited to contamination assessment, risk assessment, feasibility studies, design and construction of treatment systems, operation and maintenance of installed treatment systems, and removal of contaminated media when necessary.
