Steps to Designation

The Florida Clean Marina Program (CMP) is proud to highlight its designated facilities; all featured on an interactive map. This tool allows visitors to explore facility details and plan their next eco-conscious excursion throughout the state. Certified marinas with state lands leases will receive a 10% discount on the submerged land lease fees and many more benefits. This is in accordance with the Florida Statute 253.0346(3)(a)1 and Chapter 18-21.011(1)(b)15a

Apply

To apply for the CMP, please email Clean.Marina.Program@FloridaDEP.gov with the following documents:

  1. Completely filled out Clean Marina Application.
  2. Signed Clean Marina Pledge.
  3. Completed Clean Marina Action Plan (CMAP) Checklist.
    a. The CMAP is designed to be used by facility operators to conduct self-assessments on location. Each section of the CMAP corresponds to the best management practices (BMPs) listed within the Florida Clean Marina BMPs. The CMAP is composed of all program assessments, including Clean Marina, Boatyard, Marine Retailer and/or Clean and Resilient Marina. It is only necessary to complete those sections that are applicable to your facility.

Designation as a Clean Marina will be provided to facilities that meet 100% of the regulatory and legal requirements and at least 60% of the recommended BMPs.

Upon receipt of your complete application, you will receive an email confirmation. An employee will then be assigned to review your application, and a site visit will be scheduled. Designated Clean Marina facilities receive a program flag to fly, as well as a designation certificate to display. Award ceremonies are available on request.

Renewals

CMP follows a five-year renewal schedule to ensure that all locations have upheld their commitment to implementing BMPs. At the time of renewal, an electronic notification is sent with detailed information on the renewal procedures. The renewal process includes completing the renewal form and receiving a site visit from a Clean Boating regional coordinator. This process serves as an excellent opportunity to update the program on any new BMPs that have been adopted by your facility and allows your facility to maintain its designated status.

Resources

CMP participates in outreach at marine-related events throughout the year to provide education on our program. These events are an excellent way to become more familiar with the qualifications required to become a designated facility, socialize with the program members and learn about the available assistance within your area.
