Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Destin’s Norriego Point Recreation Area:

The City of Destin held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the completion of the Norriego Point Recreation Area, a 14-acre park at the end of Gulf Shore Drive featuring dune walkovers, a boardwalk that loops around the property, designated parking, restrooms and showers, a pavilion and ADA access. DEP’s Norriego Point Stabilization Project constructed a series of erosion‑control structures designed to dissipate wave energy and protect the restored shoreline. These measures support the restoration and expansion of approximately eight acres of land that had been lost over time.

DEP’s Division of Water Restoration Assistance provided approximately $12.5 million for this project through the Deepwater Horizon Program's Natural Resource Damage Assessment grants.
