Negative Response Review – Management Plan Amendments

A management plan may be amended anytime that a managing agency wishes to add a previously unapproved land use or management activity.

Management Plan Amendments are posted on Thursdays for a two-week review period, except for State or Federal holidays. At the request of three or more ARC members, items on negative response may be placed on the next ARC agenda for review. Absent this request, the items are approved by delegated authority to the Division of State Lands.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has submitted an amendment to the approved Orange Hammock WMA management plan (Lease No. 4850). The request includes constructing a concrete pad/equipment storage building and installing a new water well to support prescribed fire and other operations at the WMA. FWC will locate the new structures in a cleared section of pasture adjacent to an existing management road. The new structures were contemplated in the WMA management plan approved in February 2022. The Divison of State Lands will approve this plan amendment unless at least three ARC members ask the Division to place the item on a future Council meeting agenda.
