Florida Natural Areas Inventory

The Florida Natural Areas Inventory (FNAI) is Florida's Natural Heritage Program and state member of the NatureServe network. FNAI provides scientific support to the Florida Forever program.  

Florida Ecological Greenways Network (FEGN) and Florida Wildlife Corridor

The FEGN is a statewide database that identifies and prioritizes a functionally connected statewide ecological network of public and private conservation lands. It is a key component of the evaluative criteria for Florida Forever land acquisitions and provides the science foundation for the Florida Wildlife Corridor. In July 2021, the Florida Wildlife Corridor Act was signed into law. The Florida Wildlife Corridor is comprised of critical habitat linkages that are defined as Priority 1, Priority 2 or Priority 3 areas within the FEGN. An interactive Florida Wildlife Corridor map is available to users to upload shapefiles and create individualized maps using the most current data.

Land and Recreation Grants Program

The Land and Recreation Grants program promotes and fosters relationships to enhance and sustain Florida's natural and cultural resources and provide increased outdoor recreational opportunities for Florida residents and visitors. This program is administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Grants administered by the program include the Florida Communities Trust, Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program, Land and Water Conservation Fund, and Recreation Trails Program.

Rural and Family Lands Protection Program 

The Rural and Family Lands Protection program is an agricultural land preservation program designed to protect important agricultural lands through the acquisition of permanent agricultural land conservation easements. This program is administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
