Mineral Oil Dielectric Fluid (MODEF) Cleanup Protocols

Mineral Oil Dielectric Fluid (MODEF) is used in a electrical transformers and other electrical devices. The relatively low toxicity of MODEF (see analysis below) allows for the development of specific streamlined response action protocols that are consistent with Chapter 62-780, Florida Administrative Code, “Contaminated Site Cleanup Criteria”. These specific protocols are linked below. Please note these protocols do not apply to transformer fluids with concentrations of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) above 50 parts per million (see the PCB Coordinated Cleanup page for more information on PCB cleanup).
