Why Reuse?

Water reuse simply makes sense for Florida and Florida has become the national leader in water reuse. Using reclaimed water (treated domestic wastewater) conserves precious drinking water resources. Water reuse also offers opportunities to recharge and augment available surface water and ground water resources in a manner that protects public health and environmental quality. Use of reclaimed water by state agencies, state universities, and water management districts aids in Florida’s water conservation efforts. Use by state agencies, state universities, and water management districts also serves to educate the public about water reuse, the quality of reclaimed water, the safety of reuse, and the acceptability of reuse.
