The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is holding the first meeting of the Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal System Technical Advisory Committee (OSTDS TAC). The TAC was established pursuant to the 2020 Clean Waterways Act (Chapter 2020-150, Laws of Florida). Members will develop recommendations related to the availability of enhanced nutrient-reducing OSTDS in the marketplace, including such systems that are cost-effective, low maintenance, and reliable; regulatory options; appropriate setback distances from surface water, groundwater, and wells; and the use of associated Enhanced Nutrient Reducing (ENR) technology. These recommendations will be submitted to the governor and legislature by January 1, 2022, as required by the Clean Waterways Act, and will also guide DEP's future rulemaking efforts.
This meeting is open to the public. DEP is convening the meeting via webinar. Please register to attend the webinar.
The meeting agenda is available on the OSTDS TAC webpage. A copy can also be requested by contacting Heather Simpkins via email at: OSTDS_TAC@FloridaDEP.gov or via phone at: 850-245-8637.
