The state asbestos removal program requirements of section 376.60, Florida Statutes (F.S.), and the renovation or demolition notice requirements of the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M, as embodied in Rule 62-257, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), are included on this Notice of Demolition or Asbestos Renovation form.

  • This Notice of Demolition or Asbestos Renovation form must be postmarked or received at least 10 working days before the project start date. Submit the notice to the appropriate DEP district office or local air program office. Be sure to provide the address where the department or local air program is to send the invoice for any fee due.
  • The DEP Business Portal may be used instead of this form to submit notifications and pay any fees online.  The online notification must still be submitted at least 10 working days before the project start date.

Effective March 23, 2025, DEP revised Florida’s Asbestos Program Rule (62-257, F.A.C.) to update definitions, clarify the notification procedure, and simplify the asbestos project fee schedule.

The new fee schedule is a simplified, two-tiered fee structure as follows:

  1. a flat fee of $200 for any notification submitted via hard copy or electronically where a “Pay Later” invoice is generated; or 
  2. a discounted fee of $100 if the notification is submitted electronically and the “Pay Now” feature is used to submit the associated fee payment simultaneously in the DEP Business Portal.
