Springshed Initiative
The PRP Springshed Initiative began in response to the Florida Springs and Aquifer Protection Act passed in 2014.
The PRP implemented the springshed initiative, which prioritized the petroleum discharges located within the springshed areas in the state of Florida. The PRP worked with the Florida Geological Survey to determine which facilities with petroleum discharges were in the springshed areas and created a list of these facilities that would be prioritized for assessment and remediation.
The list of facilities within the springshed areas, that scored less than 30 (funding range at that time), can be found at Facilities Listed in Vulnerable Springsheds (Scored <30).
These sites do not have to be within priority score funding range to proceed with cleanup, contingent upon funding being available.
